Successful Lao Dinner

Saturday, September 19, 2015, we came back from a travel hiatus of two years and with the help of hosts Colleen & Stephanie, threw a Lao inspired dinner party!   Seven guests--some new and some returning--enjoyed a 4 course dinner party.  On my trip to Luang Prabang, I fell in love with their cuisine, their country and their people.  We recreated a dinner I had there with great success!

While one can never recreate a dish exactly, these are close to the memories I have of one great meal:

STARTERS

* Charred Tomato-Shallot Dip

*Charred Eggplant-Herb Dip

*Seaweed Chips with Gomasio

*Fried Rice Crackers

*Black Pepper Shrimps

1st COURSE

Lemongrass stuffed with Spiced Chicken
Sour Peanut Sauce

2nd COURSE

Khao Soy:
Rice Noodles, Minced Pork,Pork Broth
Herbs, Sprouts, Chile, Lime

DESSERT

Steamed Pumpkin Cake with Palm Sugar Caramel & Sesame Seeds

We are already planning our next dinner!!!

We are thinking of a "black" party for October. Black food, Black attire. If you are interested in hosting this one or future events, contact us at our email below.
